HERMIT PARK OSHC RULES
We have 3 rules that all persons attending, visiting or employed at the service must abide by. They are:
WELCOME TO HERMIT PARK OSHC
Welcome to the Hermit Park Outside School Hours Care service. We are an approved centre for 135 children, delivering before school, after school and vacation care for school aged children. Depending on availability, we do accept vacation care enrolments from families whose children attend other schools.
Our educators look forward to caring for your children and to forming meaningful and lasting relationships with you, their families. Guiding this process are our coordinator (nominated supervisor) and assistant coordinator who work daily to ensure quality continuity of care. All educators employed at our service are trained in first aid and CPR and hold or are in the process of obtaining a blue card issued by the Queensland Government Blue Card Services, which confirms their suitability to work in child-related employment.
Our service has been assessed against the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care and School Age Care. Hermit Park OSHC achieved Exceeding for all seven quality areas.
MY TIME , OUR PLACE PROGRAM
A variety of supervised activities are programmed for each day of before and after school and vacation care (e.g. cooking, painting, clay work, craft, music, outdoor activities). Opportunities for quiet play are also provided, including areas for children to withdraw from all activities.
The My Time Our Place Framework acknowledges the importance of play and leisure in children’s learning and development and the fact that their learning is not limited to any particular time or place. Developing life skills and a sense of enjoyment are emphasised. The Framework recognises the importance of social and emotional development and communication in learning through play and leisure and it forms the foundation for ensuring that children in all school age care settings engage in quality experiences which promote rich learning, personal development and active citizenship.
At Hermit Park OSHC, we actively encourage parents to discuss and provide constructive feedback about our program via both face-to-face conversations or via the website. In this connection and as we are always striving to improve the standard of care which we deliver, the service conducts an annual survey which provides parents with the opportunity to convey their thoughts and opinions with respect to the program. We also always ensure that the children have the opportunity to express their ideas about all aspects of the care program via mat time discussions, suggestion boxes and interest boards etc.
HEALTHY CHOICE MENU
Our service recognises and acknowledges the importance of providing food that is both nutritious and appropriate to the needs of the children attending OSHC. We encourage and promote the health and wellbeing of children by providing positive learning experiences during meal/snack times where good nutritional food habits are developed in a happy, social environment. Parents are encouraged to participate in this approach to nutrition for their children. We cater to all children's food requirements including with respect to allergies, food intolerances and religious beliefs.
